Police make arrest in Western Addition road rage shooting

Police made an arrest Tuesday in the case of a road rage incident from August in The City’s Western Addition neighborhood, Officer Gordon Shyy said in a statement Thursday.

Easy Chang, 25, of San Francisco was booked into County Jail on charges of attempted homicide with a firearm, aggravated assault with a firearm, possession of an unregistered firearm and discharging a firearm from a vehicle in connection with an Aug. 31 incident at Golden Gate Avenue and Broderick Street, Shyy said.

In that incident, a 37-year-old man was crossing the street in a crosswalk about 2:15 p.m. and Chang allegedly drove past the victim without yielding, Shyy said. The victim reportedly yelled at Chang as he drove away.

Chang is alleged to have stopped a short distance away and shot the victim before driving away. Earlier reports stated that he had driven closer and shot the victim a second time.

The victim was hospitalized with critical injuries at the time, but he is expected to survive.
