Police made an arrest Wednesday in the shooting of a 20-year-old man on a Muni Metro train on Monday, Officer Grace Gatpandan said in a statement.

On Monday, about 12:21 p.m., the victim in the shooting was riding southbound on Muni's T-Third Metro line between Oakdale and Palou avenues when he was shot in the face.

The suspect fled the scene and the victim was hospitalized with critical injuries, although he is expected to survive.

During the course of their investigation, police identified a suspect on Wednesday and arrested him near Haight Street and Buena Vista Avenue West, Gatpandan said.

The suspect is in the process of being booked, so his identity is being withheld at this time. Police did say it was an 18-year-old man.

Police have also withheld a booking photo, but did release a picture of the alleged weapon.
