Police make arrest in case of January chase

San Francisco police arrested a man Tuesday in connection with a brazen daylight car chase and shooting that caused three people to be injured on Jan. 11.

Investigators with the Gang Task Force traced 23-year-old Justin Wilson, of San Francisco, to the incident. They arrested him in San Mateo. The chase and shooting involved rival Ingleside district gangs, the department reported.

On Jan. 11, Wilson, driving a 2007 Ford Escape, allegedly chased a 2001 Honda with two people inside from the Embarcadero to the 1500 block of Broadway, where the Honda crashed into a 2002 Acura at about 10:30 a.m., police reported. The crash stopped the Honda, and when Wilson caught up to the vehicle, he fired into it, hitting and injuring the passengers.

The driver of the Acura, a 51-year-old man; the driver of the Honda, a 21-year-old woman; and the passenger in the Honda suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police reported.

Wilson was booked on charges of attempted murder, assault with a firearm and reckless endangerment. He is still in custody, police reported.
