Police investigating SoMa homicide 

Police are investigating The City’s 22nd homicide after a shooting in South of Market this morning left a young man dead, Sgt. Danielle Newman said in a statement.

About 5:12 a.m., police responded to a 911 call requesting help in the area of Sixth and Harrison streets, Newman said. When officers arrived, there was no victim at the scene. However, a short time later, the man showed up at the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police believe the incident was a shooting and homicide detectives are investigating, Newman said.

The victim was identified by the Medical Examiner’s Office as Daniel Beltran, an 18-year-old San Francisco resident.
