Police Commission can't have a meeting this week

With all the drama over appointments and reappointments, The City’s Police Commission is just going to take this week off.

Since one of the commission members is on vacation, the civilian oversight body doesn’t have enough members to put together a quorum. The reappointment of the president of the commission was held up last week by Supervisor David Campos, and Mayor Gavin Newsom has yet to name a second replacement.

Newsom’s foot dragging on commission appointments also led to the cancellation of the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency’s meeting last week, as the mayoral-appointed body couldn’t come up with a quorum.

At least the newest member of the Police Commission, board appointee and Asian Law Caucus lawyer Angela Chan, appears to be cruising towards approval on Tuesday.
