Police announce arrest in string of Fi-Di bank robberies

Police have announced an arrest in a string of bank robberies throughout The City since November, Officer Albie Esparza said in a statement.

Frederick Black, 38, of San Francisco was arrested on suspicion of at least 10 bank robberies, Esparza said, the majority of which were in the Financial District.

Black was reportedly arrested in connection with the robbery of a credit union on Nov. 26 and on several outstanding warrants.

He was located by police Dec. 27 in the Mid-Market area, Esparza said.

The investigation into these robberies is still ongoing, Esparza said, and anyone with information on these cases is encouraged to call (415) 575-4444 or text to TIP411 with “SFPD” at the beginning of the message.
