Plenty of ways to go green on St. Patrick’s Day

  • San Francisco’s 163rd annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade gets underway at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Second and Market streets.
Even though the holiday officially is Monday, festivities for St. Patrick’s Day are underway. The following events are just some of the ways to celebrate.


Cooney’s Irish Cabaret: The lineup includes Andy Cooney, Noel V. Ginnity, The Guinness Irish Band and Darrah Carr Dance, 8 p.m., $20-$40. United Irish Cultural Center of San Francisco, 2700 45th Ave., S.F., (415) 661-2700,

2014 St. Patrick’s Day Parade: Presented by United Irish Societies and featuring grand marshals Dan and Margaret McAuliffe, this year’s procession — the 163rd in San Francisco’s history and a tribute to the Irish workers of America — starts downtown and ends at Civic Center Plaza. Begins at 11:30 a.m., Market and Second streets, S.F.,

Crossroads’ St. Patrick’s Day Bar Crawl: In the third annual event, Marina bars (Eastside West, Comet Club, Circa, Blue Light and others) offer drink specials to tipsy participants. 2 to 6 p.m., $10 advance, multiple locations

Shamrock Streat Bash: Food trucks serve traditional Irish offerings as well as beer specials, live music and games. Noon Saturday-Sunday, 5 p.m. Monday, free. SOMA Streat Food Park, 428 11th St., S,F,
