Plan to raise height limit of Pier 70 mixed-use development passes 

San Francisco finally appears to agree on a plan for its waterfront.

A mixed-use development that combines housing, retail, office and open park space on more than a third of Pier 70 will move forward after voters passed Proposition F on Tuesday, which seeks to raise the height limit at the site as well as encourage The City to support the project.

Prior to the election, Prop. F garnered virtually zero opposition, even from those ordinarily guarded against waterfront projects in The City. Former Mayor Art Agnos had said it was the first time he could recall a major waterfront development receiving such unison from neighborhood organizations, businesses and environmental groups.

The initiative is the first to exercise Prop. B, a measure passed in June requiring voter approval for all development projects that exceed building-height limits along The City's waterfront.
