Places to go, people to see

Tonight marks the first ever "Shop SF," billed as a "unique shopping experience" — all in one space — featuring the best fashion San Francisco has to offer. Guests will have the opportunity to purchase goods at discounted prices from more than 40 womenswear, menswear and accessory designers. Adding to the atmosphere will be an open bar, spa treatments, fashion presentations, makeovers and a disc jockey. Tickets are $10 to $40; proceeds go to Gen Art, a nonprofit dedicated to showcasing emerging fashion designers, filmmakers, musicians and visual artists. The fun runs from 6 to 10 tonight at The Galleria, San Francisco Design Center, 101 Henry Adams St.

OTHER WORLDS

Cool, colorful paintings by Milanese artist Matteo Bergamasco are on display beginning today at MMGalleries in a solo show called "Other Worlds (the way vision becomes hyperspace)." The exhibit, organized in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of San Francisco, opens today and runs through July 11. Bergamasco’s work has been described as an "ongoing personal exploration of the creative universe" and a translation of "a very lucid journey between what is transcendent and what is perceived." Events include an opening reception today from 5 to 7 p.m.

MMGalleries is at 101 Townsend St., Suite 207, San Francisco. Call (415) 543-1550.
