Pistol-whipped victim defeats robber

A 67-year-old man fended off a pistol-packing robber on Tuesday night, cops said.

The man was opening up the trunk of his parked car at Woolsey and Girard streets around 11 p.m. when he was attacked, police said.

A man in his late 20s approached the victim from behind. As the victim turned, he was struck in the face with the pistol. The thug then demanded his wallet, cops said.

But the older man fought off the gun-toting brute and won. The crook fled empty-handed, police said.

No arrest has been made.
