Phone vs. knife fight deemed ‘mutual combat’ by cops

A San Francisco man under attack didn’t at first use the phone to call 911, but rather as a weapon against a knife-wielding roommate Tuesday, police said.

The man bashed his female roommate over the head with the phone after she threatened to stab him to death in the 1400 block of Sunnydale Avenue around noon.

But the phone defense did not have great results. The woman then managed to slash the man in the neck with the knife, police at Ingleside Station said. Neither roommate was seriously injured, they said. A motive for the fight wasn’t immediately known.

An ambulance responded to the scene and offered medical attention. At the end, both the man and woman were taken into police custody since the battle was deemed “mutual combat.”
