PG&E sends Bay Area crews to San Diego

Employees from Pacific Gas and Electric Co. in San Francisco are heading to San Diego County today to help restore electric lines in areas ravaged by fires this week. Electric crews departed from the Martin substation yard at Geneva Avenue and Schwerin Street in Daly City in PG&E trucks.

Employees will rebuild electric distribution lines destroyed in the fires by installing new poles and stringing new wire. More crews will depart Friday at 6 a.m. PG&E will send a total of 90 employees from Northern and Central California between today and Friday.

PG&E is part of a mutual aid network of sister utility companies throughout the U.S. that call on one another to help restore power after major disasters.
