Perry's presidential talk may have more to do with Texas politics 

National Journal throws a bucket of cold water on the latest speculation:

Perry Spokesman: 'The governor has no intention of running for president.'

Perry would bring a lot of charisma to the GOP field, and a strong economic record from his state. But he's also prone to foot-in-mouth disease -- witness his discussions of Texas secession.

Still, the better interpretation of his earlier remarks about running for president is that he wants state legislators to take more seriously the possibility that he will veto the budget that is expected to pass this weekend.
