Peninsula prep football games

Friday’s games

Burlingame at Sacred Heart Prep, 3 p.m.

The Gators have been impressive in nonleague play, compiling a 4-0 mark. But SHP will be tested against a solid Burlingame team fresh off a 42-12 win over Woodside.

Skyline at Carlmont, 3 p.m.

The Scots are coming off an impressive win over Aragon and look to continue their success at home in a nonleague title.

Hillsdale at El Camino, 3 p.m.

Both clubs are coming off losses in their previous games, which should set up for a competitive PAL Lake Division opener.

Menlo School at Half Moon Bay, 6 p.m.

The visiting Knights (3-1) and host Cougars (3-1) have both won three straight after dropping their season openers. Menlo will need to slow down the HMB rushing attack. This could be one of the more entertaining games of the week.

Woodside at San Mateo, 7 p.m.

The Bearcats hope a visit by the winless Wildcats can cure their two-game losing streak.

Capuchino at Harker, 7 p.m.

The Mustangs head to the South Bay looking to right their ship after being shut out by Aragon last week.

Sequoia at San Marcos, 7 p.m.

The Cherokees hit the road for a final nonleague tuneup before opening PAL Lake Division play. San Marcos has scored just three total points in its last two games combined.

Jefferson at South San Francisco, 7 p.m.

The visiting Indians have won two straight, while the Warriors lost a narrow contest to Mountain View two weeks ago.  It will be the Ocean Division opener for both clubs and could go a long way in determining who wins the league title.

Saturday’s games

King’s Academy at Menlo-atherton, 2 p.m.

The host Bears (1-3) earned their first victory of the season last week, but will have their hands full with the Knights (3-1).

Stuart Hall at Crystal Springs Uplands, 1 p.m.

The Knights (1-2, 0-1) will head to Crystal Springs for its homecoming game and figure to be considerable underdogs again against the Gryphons (3-1, 2-1) who trounced the Knights 52-2 in both teams’ opener.
