Peninsula Police Blotter

A log of daily events from Peninsula police departments.

South City

Mail us cash: A particularly inept version of the increasingly common prizewinner-service-fee scam was reported locally on Sept. 27. A Las Vegas company calling itself Payment Resources sent an "Official Notice of Prize Award" letter instructing the resident to respond with personal identification information and $26.96 for processing fees. The resident became suspicious and notified the police after he tried to call the company and learned that its phone number was disconnected.

Millbrae

Parking lot assault: A man assaulted a woman in a municipal parking lot on the 500 block of Magnolia Avenue shortly before 1:15 a.m. Sept. 30 and inflicted abrasions to both of her elbows and left side.

Burlingame

Double jeopardy: A 2000 Ford Expedition SUV was stolen with keys that were left inside. The owner then found herself locked out of her apartment on the 1200 block of El Camino Real at noon Oct. 2.

San Carlos

Vandalism all over: Three graffiti incidents were discovered shortly after 3 p.m. Oct. 3 on the 100 block of Laurel Street, the 1-100 block of Hull Drive and on the walls of the Omelet House.

Redwood City

Paintball revenge: An unknown vandal shot several paintballs at a car and a residence on the 1000 block of 10th Avenue sometime overnight Sept. 20. The victims suspected the damage was vengeance for reporting a neighbor’s trash-laden car.

Daly City

Food fight: Two females, a customer and an employee at Kana Japanese restaurant in the Westlake Shopping Center, got into a slugfest at 2:39 p.m. Sept. 29 over paying for ordered food that was not eaten. The fracas included mutual scratching, hair-pulling and a ripped bra. Ultimately both ladies had a meeting of the minds and declined to press charges against each other.
