Daly City

Basketbrawl: Two basketball players got into a fight at the 24 Hour Fitness gym on 373 Gellert Blvd. at 8:48 p.m. Aug. 27; one was strangled unconscious, suffering a 2-inch bump on his head as he crashed to the floor. The assailant immediately fled from the basketball court and is sought by authorities.

Loan surprise: A local real estate agent is currently under investigation on charges of fraudulently obtaining a loan for a townhouse at the Pointe Pacific complex atop San Bruno Mountain by forging the supposed purchaser’s signature on numerous deed documents and personally notarizing them.

Belmont

Missing and deceased: The vehicle of a 36-year-old San Carlos man reported missing at 9:22 a.m. Aug. 24 was found in Twin Pines Park. At 4:40 p.m., the man’s body was found in a remote area of the park. There was no indication of foul play. The county coroner is investigating the cause of death.

South City

Ambush robbery: An elderly male was walking home from work at 10:45 p.m. Aug. 26 on the 800 block of Maple Street. Three unknown suspects were hiding behind a bush and leaped out at him from behind. A handgun was pressed into the victim’s neck as the ski-mask-clad suspect reached into the victim’s pocket to grab his wallet. The two lookouts urged the gunman to hurry; they then ran south.

Millbrae

Lucky stoner: A Lucky employee was seen smoking marijuana before heading in to work in the Murchison Drive store off El Camino Real at 4:25 p.m. Aug. 28. Lucky security found a small amount of leafy green substance believed to be marijuana just outside the store. The man quit his job and was sent home.

Redwood City

Hitting herself: Police released an agitated woman to her parents at 7:50 p.m. Aug. 25 after her boyfriend called police to report she was going crazy: screaming, trashing the house, scratching him and hitting herself to make it appear he was beating her.
