Peninsula Medical Center lawsuit dismissed

A county judge threw out the last part of a lawsuit against Peninsula Medical Center’s hospital construction on El Camino Real in Burlingame on Thursday, which alleged that the Peninsula Health Care District improperly issued a 50-year lease to the hospital.

A watchdog group of citizens called Peninsula Guardians issued the lawsuit, believing the $528 million project was an inefficient use of taxpayer money. In February, a judge dismissed the main part of the lawsuit. The construction is due to a state-mandated 2013 deadline to retrofit medical-care buildings to meet seismic standards.

New restaurant to take over Broadway train station

The Peninsula Corridor Joint Power Board agreed Thursday to let the owner of restaurants along Belden Place in San Francisco take over the Broadway train station, former site of Pisces restaurant, which terminated its lease in February. Stazione LLC owns the restaurants Café Tiramisu and Belden Tavern.

Pisces spent about $200,000 on upgrades at Broadway’s station, where it was located for about 10 years. The Broadway station receives Caltrain service on weekends only.
