Peninsula: Commission to consider traffic plan for hospital

The Transportation and Circulation Commission meets today to consider accepting a traffic analysis and mitigation plan for the Palo Alto Medical Center’s proposed hospital on Industrial Road.

Traffic is a big concern for residents who live closest to the project and who use Holly Street and Industrial Road, both already well-traveled thoroughfares.

If the commission signs off on the project, it heads to the Planning Commission this fall. The meeting is tonight at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 600 Elm St.

The proceeds will be used to purchase books for families and children, and customers who donate receive a $10 off coupon for a future Macy’s purchase.

Police search for man in Tuesday morning bank heist

Police are seeking a suspect who robbed the First National Bank at 700 El Camino Real at 9:31 a.m. Tuesday. Witnesses said the man, a white or Latino male in his 20s or 30s, approached the teller and presented a note demanding money.

The teller gave him an undisclosed sum, after which the man fled on foot. Witnesses did not see any weapon or suspect vehicle. In August, there have been four other bank robberies on the Peninsula. The latest holdup occurred at a Bank of America in Foster City. Police have arrested two suspects for two separate heists. Anyone with information on the robbery can contact the Redwood City Police Department at (650) 780-7100.
