Pedestrian struck, killed by car in San Francisco

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle Monday evening while trying to cross Mission Street.

The incident occurred around 7 p.m. at the intersection of Mission and Excelsior streets. The car was traveling north on Mission, according to the San Francisco Police Department. After passing Excelsior the car struck a male pedestrian.

It is unknown if the pedestrian was in a crosswalk at the time.

The victim was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where he died from his injuries, according to police.
