Pedestrian hit, seriously injured near City Hall 

A pedestrian was struck by a car and seriously injured near San Francisco City Hall on Monday morning.

The accident happened at about 6:30 a.m. at Van Ness Avenue and Grove Street, San Francisco police Lt. Lyn Tomioka said.

The pedestrian was transported to San Francisco General Hospital with life-threatening injuries, Tomioka said.

The driver remained at the scene and the incident is not believed to be criminal, she said. Police were still at the intersection at 8:45 a.m. and several lanes remained blocked.
