Passersby foil attempted purse snatching

A woman whose purse was snatched got her bag back due to the efforts of good Samaritans, police said.

The 26-year-old woman was walking in the 900 block of Van Ness Avenue when she was pushed to the ground by a Hispanic man in his 20s, police said. The hoodlum then grabbed the victim’s purse and fled, but not before some passersby gave chase. The spooked ruffian dropped the purse and fled, police said.

The victim wasn’t hurt, they said. No arrests were made in the cowardly crime.
