Parks want to celebrate ADA day too

Mayor Gavin Newsom’s office is getting its groove on for the 20th anniversary of the American Disabilities Act on Monday with a news conference, and park officials wanted to highlight their efforts, too.

The Recreation and Park Department issued a release highlighting its completion of almost 170 projects with ADA requirements during the past 10 years with help from the two parks bonds.

“The Recreation and Park Department touches the lives of so many people, from the people who visit our parks on a daily basis to the children, adults and seniors who depend on our programs,” said general manager Phil Ginsburg. “We are proud of our history of serving people of all abilities and are honored to help celebrate this important milestone.”
