Parking management and bicycle network considered for funding 

 The City’s five-year funding outlook for transit and infrastructure projects could soon have two new elements to it—a strategy for parking management, and a buildup of its bicycle network.

On Tuesday, the San Francisco County Transportation Authority (TA), a public agency in charge with monitoring tax allocations for transit projects, will discuss plans to amend their five-year Prioritization Program, which sets out funding timelines for major projects in The City.

The five-year outlook already incorporates the Central Subway project, Caltrain electrification, and the Doyle Drive rebuild, among other major projects proposed for San Francisco.

With an injunction against The City’s Bike Plan now lifted on a conditional basis, the TA wants to add planning for bike infrastructure and education to its five-year Prioritization Program.

And with debate heating up on The City’s parking policies, the TA could add the issue of parking management to its strategic plan.

The TA’s Plans and Programs committee will discuss the two additions to the five-year plan on Tuesday. If the proposal is approved it will go before the full TA board on December 15.
