Parking garage restrictions heard Monday

After several postponements and several amendments, Board of Supervisors President David Chiu’s legislation to impose restrictions on the construction of parking garages in residential buildings located in District 3 appears headed toward approval.

On Monday, the Board of Supervisors Land Use and Economic Development Committee meets to discuss the legislation, which is expected to be amended as a compromise to ensure the legislation would have enough votes at the board to protect it from a mayoral veto. Expected amendments include no longer requiring a special conditional use permit, which are expensive and appealable to the board, to build a garage.
