Parking enforcement officials find dead man in van

A man was found dead in his van in the inner Richmond on Thursday morning when a tow truck came to haul away the vehicle, authorities said.

It appears he died from natural causes, police said.

The vehicle had been parked on Anza Street by Rossi Park for some time. Parking enforcement officials had spoken to the man Saturday, when they booted the vehicle for violations, police said. He was “alive and well,” police said.

His body was found just before 9 a.m., police said. A police spokeswoman said she did not know whether the man lived in the van.

“Unfortunately in that area you do see a few cars where people have been living inside,” police Lt. Lyn Tomioka said.

The man’s identity was not immediately available.
