Parent company of Reno hospital changes name

Catholic Healthcare West, the parent company of Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center, is changing its name to Dignity Health.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports (http://on.rgj.com/yGdl97 ) the company is also installing new top administrators.

But officials say while Reno-area residents will see new signs and logos, no major changes are planned at the hospital or at the practices of its doctors.

The company entered exclusive negotiations in October to sell the hospital to Tennessee-based Community Health Systems Inc., but those talks broke down in December.

Dignity Health owns or operates 25 Catholic hospitals and 15 non-Catholic hospitals.
