Palo Alto police investigate strong-arm robbery in Borders parking lot 

A man robbed a woman of her purse in a Borders bookstore parking lot in Palo Alto on Monday night, police said.

The strong-arm robbery occurred at about 9:35 p.m. in the back parking lot of the Borders in the 500 block of Cowper Street, according to police.

A man approached the 31-year-old victim from behind, pushed her off balance, then pulled her purse from her shoulder and ran away toward Hamilton Avenue, police said.

He was described as a tall, thin Pacific Islander man between 18 and 30 years old, wearing a white or gray hooded sweatshirt and dark jeans.

The victim was not hurt, police said.
