Orange fever starts anew as San Francisco Giants host FanFest at ballpark

The official first pitch in the Giants’ much-anticipated 2011 season comes Saturday as the team hosts FanFest at AT&T Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

But this one is a little different from past years.

The most obvious reason is the presence of the World Series trophy, which fans will be able to see in person and take pictures with. FanFest is just one of many stops on the trophy’s tour, which has already been all around California and to New York, where the Giants’ franchise originated.

Also, fans will have the chance to snag autographs and take pictures with All-Stars Tim Lincecum and Brian Wilson, National League Rookie of the Year Buster Posey and new shortstop Miguel Tejada, whom the Giants signed in December.

The team’s famous announcing duo of Duane Kuiper and Mike Krukow will be participating as well, and KNBR (680 AM) personalities will be broadcasting live from home plate during the festivities.

Giants officials are expecting record-breaking crowds at FanFest, which should be appealing not just because of the success of the team last season, but also because of the free admission and parking.

Manager Bruce Bochy and other fan favorites such as Andres Torres to Freddy Sanchez will also be on hand to sign autographs and pose for photos with fans.

Where: AT&T Park
What: Players and coaches will be available for autographs and photos; World Series trophy will be on display
