Oops! NYT corrects David Brooks column because he was off by hundreds of billions of dollars

David Brooks' column yesterday scolded Republicans for an unwillingness to accept higher taxes. The GOP, he wrote, "is being offered the deal of the century: trillions of dollars in spending cuts in exchange for a few hundred million dollars of revenue increases."

Yet there was one problem with that sentence, as the New York Times subsequently updated:

 Correction: July 5, 2011

An earlier version of this column misstated the amount of revenue increases needed in exchange for spending cuts. It is a few hundred billion, not million.

The current online version of the article now reads "billion."
