Online program automates drudgery for small businesses' taxes

Kevin Reeth is the CEO of Outright, a simple online bookkeeping program designed for small- and self-employed business owners who have no time to do their accounting. The program can be found at

What methods do you use? We automate all of the drudgery. We connect directly to web services and applications such as your bank accounts, credit cards and PayPal. Then we do the data entry for you as well as putting the information in the proper tax categories so that you can get back to running your business.

Is the process pain-free? Definitely. You can access the website anytime, anywhere from your cell phone, iPad or computer. The whole point is for us to do the least-enjoyable record work. A survey of our customers revealed that they are saving on average five hours a month by using Outright. We say that it gives you one of your nights or weekends back a month.

What other services do you have? We have a blog, and a community section where customers can get information from others including other small-business owners. It’s an active community who help each other out. We also have a Twitter and Facebook page. We give estimates of quarterly and end-of-year taxes so that you keep on top of things, as well as getting reminders of upcoming tax deadlines. It’s free for the first month, and $9.95 per month thereafter.
