Officer pepper-sprays misbehaving 49ers fan during NFC championship game

Though most fans at Candlestick Park behaved themselves during Sunday's NFC championship game, one fan assaulted a female police officer and she used pepper spray to subdue the suspect in the middle of the game.

According to the San Francisco Police, a male subject on the upper level of the stadium was approached by two police officers around 5 p.m. The subject assaulted both officers, including a female officer.

The female officer used pepper spray on the suspect and he was subsequently arrested.

The second officer and a nearby female fan were affected by the pepper spray.  The female fan was treated and returned to the game.

In addition to this incident, other arrests including public intoxication, a misdemeanor battery and several resisting arrests, according to police. Final numbers of arrests were not immediately available.
