Obama’s status for Presidents Cup downgraded

Well, perhaps he isn’t coming for sure after all.

Yesterday, The Examiner, quoting a city spokesperson, reported that President Barack Obama was confirmed to make an appearance at the closing ceremonies of the Presidents Cup, held at Harding Park.

After a couple of incredulous calls from the White House -- and from some curious international journalists -- The City’s Recreation and Park Department, which manages Harding Park, has requested that Obama’s status for Sunday be relegated to “rumored.”

Moral of the story: Don’t speculate on the Commander in Chief’s schedule until the man is actually there.

UPDATE: We’re still waiting to hear back from the White House to get an update on Obama-watch ‘09.
