Obama's 'receding' war is delusional, Gingrich says

Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich plans to accuse President Obama of perpetuating "delusions" that terrorist threats to U.S. national security are receding at a dinner in Baltimore on Thursday.

"The tide of war is not receding," Gingrich will say, according to his prepared remarks for the dinner, which is sponsored by the Maryland Republican Party. "It is a delusion to suggest to the American people that the world is getting safer."

Gingrich will back up his argument by citing the United States' thorny relations with Pakistan, a growing nuclear weapons program in Iran and "the rise of homegrown radical Islamist terrorism" as "evidence that the world is growing more dangerous," according to his campaign.

The former House Speaker also plans to offer up a strategy "for victory in the war against radical Islamists."
