Obama to GOP senator: ‘Fix the oil spill’ is just your talking point. 

Don’t mention the oil spill!

That’s what President Obama told Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., when he tried to bring up the real environmental disaster currently afflicting the Gulf of Mexico, at a White House meeting of 20 senators convened to discuss climate change legislation. ABC News reports on what happened when Alexander brought it up:

“The priority should be fixing the oil spill,” Alexander told the President, according to the source. “That’s what any meeting about energy should be about.”

But when Alexander tried to interject the BP leak into the meeting, the source said, the President told the senator, “That’s just your talking point.”

Retorted Alexander, “No, it’s my opinion.”
