Obama invites the nation to a town-hall event at Facebook

President Barack Obama has asked Americans to take a break from “friending” and “defriending” on Facebook for a little while – at least during the town hall meeting he plans to hold at the Facebook headquarters in the San Francisco Bay Area on Wednesday.

In a YouTube invite posted Sunday, the president invited “folks from across the country” to tune into the town hall meeting on the economy. The town hall will be live-streamed starting at 1:45 p.m.

President Obama said he will discuss his vision for reducing the deficit. Americans can participate in the town hall, submitting questions to the White House Facebook page. Along with the Facebook town hall, the president will be campaigning for his 2012 presidency and the Democratic Party.
