Oakland sees first two homicides of 2008

Police were searching Tuesday morning for suspects of the first two homicides reported in Oakland this year, officials said.

The first homicide was reported at 3:08 a.m. in the 2400 block of Wood Street, police said.

When officers arrived, they found a man with multiple gunshot wounds. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to officials.

About 10 minutes later, officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Jones Avenue, where one victim was found dead on arrival from stab wounds, police said.

Homicide officials were called to both scenes, and investigations are under way.
