Oakland police arrest suspect in armed robbery

Police arrested a man who allegedly robbed a business Sunday evening in Oakland’s Temescal neighborhood, where there has been a string of armed robberies since May, a dispatcher said.

At about 5 p.m., a man entered a business near 45th Street and Telegraph Avenue brandishing a shotgun, then he stole an undisclosed amount of cash and left, Oakland police Officer J. Moore said.

Officers detained a man matching the suspect’s description in the 400 block of 45th Street and were able to recover the stolen cash along with the shotgun and shells, Moore said.

The suspect was identified by witnesses, he said, and arrested on charges of robbery and possession of a firearm.
