Oakland mother charged with murder in infant son's drowning death 

An Oakland woman is scheduled to be arraigned at a psychiatric hospital on Tuesday on murder charges for the drowning death of her 16-month-old son last week, according to Alameda County Assistant District Attorney Tom Rogers.

Lucia Di-Lupo, 36, initially was taken to Highland Hospital in Oakland after she slit her wrists following the death of her son, Matteo Iannaccone, in the bathtub of the apartment she shares with her husband at the Regency Tower at 1130 Third Ave. in Oakland.

Oakland police found the boy dead when they came to the apartment about 5:45 p.m. Tuesday after Di-Lupo called police and told a dispatcher she had drowned her son.

Di-Lupo later was transferred to the John George Psychiatric Pavilion in San Leandro, where she is scheduled to be arraigned in front ofAlameda County Superior Court Judge Stephen Dombrink in Department 410 at 10

a.m. Tuesday, Rogers said.

Rogers said he filed murder charges against Di-Lupo last Wednesday.
