Note to Congress: Pork will not save you 

CQ has compiled a list of members of Congress who requested the highest dollar amounts for pork projects. I'd just like to point out three of the names in the top ten list for fiscal 2009, as a demonstration of what pork cannot do -- save endangered members from losing their elections.

These are the only ones who made the House top ten list who actually had competitive races this year. They all lost.

Chet Edwards, D-Texas                             $253,767,000

Stephanie Herseth Sandlin, D-S.D.    $207,377,000

Earl Pomeroy, D-N.D.                                 $169,197,000
