The 16th-ranked Stanford softball team was eliminated from postseason play on Sunday after dropping a 6-2 decision to No. 7 Louisiana-Lafayette as part of the Lafayette Regional.

The Ragin’ Cajuns took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning off Stanford’s Teagan Gerhart, who took the loss, and never looked back.

Stanford scored twice in the sixth inning on singles by Maya Burns, a former St. Ignatius standout, and Danielle Miller to cut the deficit to 5-2, but that’s as close as Stanford (40-19) would get.

Burns was the lone Stanford player to finish with multiple hits, contributing with two singles.

The playoff appearance was the 15th consecutive for Stanford, which reached the 40-win mark for the 13th time in program history.
