Niners give Gilman Park clubhouse a makeover

The San Francisco 49ers will join with the United Way Bay Area today to help give the Bayview/Hunters Point Gilman Park Clubhouse a makeover.

From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. members of the 49ers, including Darrell Jackson and Arnaz Battle, will help dozens of volunteers paint the park clubhouse, benches, bathrooms and athletic court lines, and help build garden boxes and plant greenery.

Joining the 49ers and the National Football League's Hometown Huddle program will be employees of Wells Fargo Bank, students from the Kipp

Academy, the Hunters Point Family, Rec Connect and Kelly-Moore Paints.

The NFL donates $5,000 to each team for the Hometown Huddle program expenses. Kelly-Moore Paints will donate all of the paint.
