Newsom uses radio gig to move beyond City Hall

Mayor Gavin Newsom said his new side gig doing a Saturday radio show for Air America, a liberal radio network, is a chance to move beyond City Hall.

"It’s an opportunity to have a more substantive dialogue on policy than a lot of the tit-for-tat at City Hall," Newsom said.

The mayor, who is considering a bid for the Democratic nomination in the 2010 governor’s race, said his show would begin in two weeks with a noon to 1 p.m. show on Saturdays.

"I’m trying to focus on something much bigger than who’s up and who’s down at City Hall," Newsom said.
