Newsom Tracker: Here’s our bike plan

Mayor Gavin Newsom was on a sister city trip in India when bicyclists on Tuesday rejoiced The City’s first newly-striped bike lane in three years.

More street has been striped since then, and now that the mayor is back in The City he says he wants to give a heads-up to residents about the work that is under way and the work that will come.

At 1 p.m. today, Newsom will join the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency and members of the bicycling community to “announce the first steps in the implementation of the citywide bike plan,” the Mayor’s Office said.

The mayoral event will take place at the southeast corner of Scott and Oak streets, according to Newsom’s schedule.
