Newsom to host online meeting on budget

Mayor Gavin Newsom will host an Internet town hall meeting on Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. where residents can ask the mayor questions about The City’s $522 million budget deficit.

Residents can e-mail questions in advance to BudgetTownHall@sfgov.org or ask them live on Wednesday on the Ustream page. Questions will also be accepted via Twitter by sending them to the hashtag # NewsomBudgetLive.

This is part of Newsom’s government initiative for San Francisco, focusing on open data and open participation.

“San Francisco faces an unprecedented budget deficit next year and there are no easy solutions or choices,” Newsom said. “I want to hear directly from residents online about their priorities and suggestions as we grapple with budget challenges ahead.”

The online budget town hall meeting can be viewed live on Ustream at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/mayor-gavinnewsom-live.
