Newsom to give State of The City on Wednesday

Mayor Gavin Newsom’s annual State of The City address will be Wednesday, but there is no word yet as to how and where he will deliver it. Last year, Newsom compiled more than seven hours of Youtube footage and released it to the public in segments for his State of The City address – to mixed reviews. Previous addresses by the mayor were delivered in public places such as schools, but not in the more traditional venue: legislative chambers.

“I know how excited everyone is for my State of The City,” Newsom said sarcastically during his weekly Youtube chat released Friday. “But, actually, I have a lot of good news, and I have a lot of sobering news…”

Beware, Newsom says his off-the-cuff style means the State of The City will be longer than Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s 27-minute address this week, so pick out a comfortable seat.
