Newsom stars in new video promoting SFO

Gavin Newsom has a cameo appearance in a viral video promoting San Francisco International Airport that takes not-so-subtle digs at rival hubs in California.

The video starts with a pretty nasty portrait of the passenger experience travelling into “other” California airports — rude hostesses, miserable food courts, dirty, deserted terminals, archaic baggage claims — and juxtaposes it with a lovely, shiny SFO, replete with smiling hosts, clean floors, and plenty of delicious food options. It even has these ladies.

Topping off the wonderful SFO experience is the presence of The City’s Mayor, who apparently moonlights as a welcoming attendant at the airport. At the close of the video, the Mayor ushers in a beaming SFO patron into a waiting cab (what — no BART?), with the words, “Hi I’m Gavin Newsom, Mayor of San Francisco. Thank you for choosing SFO.”

So there you have it. SFO — it’s clean, friendly, and has The City’s most powerful politician opening doors for you.
