Newsom lets loose on TV mayor

Mayor Gavin Newsom did not mince words in his character assessment of a fellow mayor on national television Sunday night: “He truly is the most patronizing politician I’ve ever seen in my life,” he said, before ticking his colleague’s character flaws off on his fingers. “The corruption, the graft, the sexual escapades, the heavy drinking. … Just a typical day in the office!”

The subject of Newsoms brutal – and maybe ironic – appraisal was, of course, Mayor Quimby, the fictional mayor of Springfield in the Simpsons.

Newsom was interviewed about his opinion about Quimby for “The Simpson’s 20th Anniversary Special: In 3D! On Ice!”

Check out Newsom delivering his judgment in the first minute of this clip.

It was perhaps an unkind turn on Newsom’s part since Quimby once ran for president on the promise that he would serve “all Americans, from the poorest small town mayor to the richest small town mayor.”
