Newsom campaigns, travels and campaigns again

Mayor Gavin Newsom spent the weekend with campaigning on his mind.

More than 200 people showed up to his campaign headquarters Friday evening where the mayor signed up more volunteers (he already has some 20,000 listed) and shook hands.

According to his campaign staff, Newsom stayed for a couple of hours after he was introduced by Dolores Huerta, co-founder of the United Farm Workers.

On Sunday, he traversed to the coastal and Democratic towns of Watsonville and Salinas, where he is campaigning for Sen. John Laird’s re-election, with a rally and some BBQ. While he’s out there, though, he plans to do more campaigning, meeting with business groups with a quick roundtable session.
