Newsom: Budget is important, town halls coming soon

While Mayor Gavin Newsom spent a lot of time on jobs, development and the homeless in his State of The City address this week, he kind of ignored the 800-pound gorilla in the room, a looming $522 million budget deficit.

But that doesn’t mean it’s not a priority for the administration, Newsom said in his weekly YouTube chat. Balancing the books has been an ongoing process.

“I did not spend, though, the State of the City talking only about the budget because we’ve been acting not talking,” he said.

Newsom said he’d be announcing soon when a series of budget town halls will take place.

“Mark my words, I get the importance,” Newsom said.
