Newsom announces low-income housing complex

Mayor Gavin Newsom on Thursday announced the opening of an eight-story housing complex on 149 Mason St. with 56 full-furnished studios with kitchens and a private bath.

The units are targeted for people who earn less than $9,000 annually, all of whom are homeless or at-risk.

The new housing is the most recent milestone to the Mayor’s 10-year plan to end homelessness. The City has developed 1,679 new units of permanent supportive housing for the chronically homeless.

The new development on Mason Street is sponsored by Glide Economic Development Corporation and the Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation.
